Red Pirate - Food, Memories and Putt Putt on the Forgotten Coast
The Red Pirate Family Grill and Oyster Bar has been a staple in Eastpoint for more than a decade. Most would agree that the Red Pirate is one of the best restaurants in Eastpoint and is often one of the last things that you will see before crossing the bridge to see our beloved St. George Island. The Red Pirate wants to make sure that you have a good time and create good memories and maybe even take a few selfies with their pirate statues. The Red Pirate is open Wednesday-Monday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm (closed on Tuesdays).
Anyone that has been to Red Pirate knows that it is one of the largest restaurants in the area. The restaurant’s main dining area offers both tables or a place where you can watch them shuck fresh, raw oysters. The Captains Quarters is a pet-friendly area you can find live music on many weekends and enjoy your food. There is also the Wheel House, a tiki hut style dining option where you can enjoy the fresh air, whether you are enjoying a burger or some blackened fish.
On our last trip to the Red Pirate, we sat in the Captains Quarters at a table and enjoyed the live music. The kids devoured their meals - chicken fingers and mac & cheese and a burger and mac & cheese.
The Red Pirate, like many restaurants in the area, is known for its seafood. Our oldest got a popcorn shrimp basket and loaded mashed potatoes, and it was soooo good. You can check out the vast menu at Red Pirate here which includes everything from its famous wings to the Philly cheesesteak wrap and from the Captain’s Platter (fish, shrimp, scallops, stuffed crab and oysters) to pasta like chicken parmesan. The place is loaded with options for the whole family!
While you’re at Red Pirate, you can also have fun playing putt putt (mini golf). The Red Pirate is the only putt putt course on the Forgotten Coast and if you need a break from the beautiful beaches of St. George Island make sure you challenge someone to an exciting round at the Red Pirate. You can find putters, golf balls and score cards at the hostess stand in the main dining area. It costs $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids, but you get $2.00 off if you dine at the Red Pirate. Everyone loves a deal!
One of the best things about the Red Pirate is its involvement in the community. The restaurant gave out free meals to veterans on Veterans Day, free meals to Franklin County police offers during police appreciation week in May and free family portraits when Santa shows up in December. The restaurant also hosts New Year’s Eve parties and costume contest for Halloween! Make sure you check out the Red Pirate Facebook page for the latest events and specials.
The Red Pirate is located at 236 Highway 98 in Eastpoint at the corner of the highway and “the road to paradise,” county road 300. Make sure you check out the Red Pirate for food, memories and maybe even a little putt putt!
